Client:
Airbus is a global leader in aerospace known for its innovation, technical excellence and investment in future talent. Each year, Airbus recruits a new cohort of apprentices across a range of disciplinaries, placing significant importance on early engagement and assessment as part of their onboarding process.
Project Overview:
For the second consecutive year, our team was proud to partner with Airbus to deliver a large-scale multi-day apprentice assessment event. The purpose of the event was to conduct structured interviews, skills tests and icebreaker sessions with incoming apprentices in a professional yet welcoming event.
Held at Chester Racecourse, the event ran over a three-week period and served as a vital step in Airbus’s apprentice onboarding process. With a focus on logistics, flow and attention to detail, our team ensured every element ran seamlessly.

Objectives:
Airbus came to us with clear goals:
- Host assessments for nearly 300 apprentices in a highly organised and efficient format
- Create a professional, engaging and stress-free experience for the apprentices, many of whom were attending their first assessment-style event
- Maximise venue use across multiple rooms and time slots while maintaining a consistent experience each day.
Venue Selection: Chester Racecourse:
Chester Racecourse was chosen once again due to its ideal blend of spacious facilities, central location and adaptable meeting rooms. Its modern infrastructure allowed us to divide the space efficiently while maintaining privacy and comfort, essential for interviews and assessments.
By using this venue for a second year, we were also able to build learnings from the previous event, further refining the layout, flow and timing to suit Airbus’s evolving needs.
Event Format and Delivery:
Duration: Two weeks
Event days: 13 in total
- 10 full days: 24 apprentices per day (08:00 – 18:00)
- 3 half days: 12 apprentices per day (08:00 – 13:00)
Daily room requirements:
- 6 private interview rooms
- 1 assessment room
- 1 icebreaker room
- Catering and refreshments for all attendees and facilitators
Outcomes and Results:
The event was delivered successfully, with all 13 days running exactly to schedule – a testament to the robust planning and clear communication between our team, Airbus stakeholders and the venue.
This project illustrates how thoughtful event planning and strong client collaboration can transform a logistically complex event into a memorable and effective experience. By anticipating challenges, creating efficient systems, remaining flexible throughout the process, we were able to help Airbus deliver a successful and high-impact onboarding experience for their future workforce.
