Acorns to Oaks

From little acorns, great oaks grow. Since launching Dancing Squirrel in 2019, we have sown six acorns that are now developing and forming the foundations of what we continue to build our organisation. These are;

We aren’t the size of many corporates, but that doesn’t mean we take our responsibilities any less seriously. We have a program for our cyber security and regulatory compliance. We align the business to GDPR / UK DPA 2018 and have security and privacy by design, central to everything we do in the connected world. We are committed to having the best people in our business ‘the right people for the right job’ and operating a fully Diverse, Inclusive and equal opportunities program.

We are on the journey to certifying as a B Corporation, proving we meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

Sustainability

We will align with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)* standards for our sustainability reporting.

We’re a member of ‘isla’, which supports us in driving our goals and ambitions, to lead the way in ‘carbon neutral sustainable’ events, which means not ‘greenwashing’ but cutting greenhouse emissions to as close as zero as possible. The remaining emissions will be sequestered by the forests and oceans, and we will look to support companies in planting more trees and cleaning the oceans.

Our sustainability aims started following the Paris Agreement that was adopted during COP21 in 2015. However, more recently, COP28 in Dubai revealed some challenges, in particular, the transition away from fossil fuels (the main driver of climate change) but we continue to drive forward with our pledge to our ESG program. Our values at Dancing Squirrel, are based on our continued commitment to creating sustainable events. As well as making Dancing Squirrel B Corp certified, we will also embark on achieving ISO 20121:2012 Event sustainability management systems.

Relationships

We understand that our customer and supplier relationships are hugely important to us. We like to consider that both customers and suppliers are also committed to our values and the ethos behind Dancing Squirrel.

We will adopt a holistic approach to collaborating with our supply chain, building relationships with trusted partnerships, and adopting industry best practice, that ensures ‘built-in’ reliability to consistently exceed customer expectation, with no detrimental impact on our values.

Operational Excellence

Operational excellence is the link between our six pillars, which helps us gain insight into our operations. Looking to establish continual improvements to all our operating procedures and supporting processes to deliver business value. It’s the foundation for effective and efficient event solutions, supporting our business goals, whilst maintaining our commitment to both ‘ESG’ and ‘DIE’

Cost Optimimisation

We invest a lot of effort in our cost optimisation strategy to allow our customers to realise the economic benefits. There are often instances when we need to optimize speed to meet customer deadlines, we recognize it doesn’t always go to plan, especially with an event!

We want to be in control of the way we do business to support the transformation of the global economy; to benefit the people, communities, and the planet, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development GOALS.

We aim to build economic growth that will enable us to help address social needs including education, health, and social protection, further creating job opportunities while tackling climate change and environmental protection
